CB Alexander Foundation

The CB Alexander Foundation supports agricultural education at Tocal College and holds in perpetuity the Tocal lands and resources. The Foundation is responsible for the conservation and development of the Tocal historic homestead complex.

The Foundation administers the following scholarship:

The Jean Wilson Alexander Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship to commemorate the life of Jean Wilson Alexander and to further the career and personal development of graduates of Tocal College.

Introduction

In the early 1980s, Misses Marguerita and Myrtle Curtis indicated that they wished to perpetuate the memory of their aunt Jean Wilson Alexander by providing a scholarship to the College.  They had known and respected her and gave the issue much consideration.

A trust was established and money invested to allow a scholarship to be awarded each year. On Certificate Day, 11 May 1984, the Minister for Agriculture officially announced the Scholarship. The Misses Curtis both died in 1985 and in their wills added further money to the Scholarship funds.

Eligibility

The Scholarship is available each year to graduates of the College to pursue further education. It is for graduates who wish to:

  • study at universities, colleges of advanced education, TAFE or other institutions full or part-time
  • undertake travel or study tours 
  • improve their overall abilities through appropriate activities. 

The panel may provide support to one or more applicants.

Selection

Recipients are selected by the Principal and two members of the College Advisory Council.  Selection is based on: 

  • the aspirations of the applicant and the nature of the proposed activity
  • the academic performance of the applicant 
  • the financial circumstances of the applicant. 

The Dairy Trust Fund Scholarship

This fund was set up to provide training opportunities and resources for Tocal students and ex-students to further their expertise in the dairy industry. It provides funding for further training, travel and skills development in appropriate areas. Support is allocated on a needs basis and as availability of funds allows.

Applications should be well thought out and clearly presented.Applicants should indicate the level of support required.  If applicants are unsure and wish to gain an indication of past allocations please contact the Secretary.
