How to operate the CD

 

Navigation-moving through the CD

This CD is viewed through your internet browser and operates like a website.  This allows you to move easily through the content.  At the bottom of each page is aback.gif (1395 bytes) BACK     NEXT next.gif (1366 bytes) button to help move you through the content in a logical order.  You can also move to any section of the CD by using the navigation (or links) at the top and left-hand side of each page.

Video

 

Throughout the CD short video segments are included where you can hear from farmers about their experience with EMS.  Just click on the video icon and the media player on your computer will automatically open and play the video (this may take a few seconds to load).  When you have finished watching the video, exit the media player by clicking the box in the top right-hand corner, and you will return to where you were up to on the CD.

 

exercise.jpg (1382 bytes) This icon is a link to the exercises relevant to the section you have been reading.   It will allow you to VIEW the exercises.  There is an additional link to the file which you can save to your hard drive to complete the exercises at your convenience.  For more detail on completing assessment tasks go to recognition and qualifications.

ISO.jpg (1739 bytes)When you see this icon, the accompanying text will explain the requirements of the relevant section of the Australian and International Standard ISO14001.

When you see this icon, the accompanying text will highlight important points relevant to the section you have just read.  These may summarise key concepts or point out issues you should be considering.


Printing

The content can be printed at any time by selecting the print option.  Go to 'file' and click print.  Please note, this will only print the pages of the section you are viewing.  It will not print all of the content of the CD or links contained within the section on screen.


Glossary

An interactive glossary is included to provide easy access to definitions of technical terms.  Where you see a link like this just click on it and a window will appear with a definition.  To exit the definition window, click on "close" or on the box in the  top right-hand corner of the window.

 

A complete glossary is provided  in Part 4 should you wish to print it.

 

External links

Further information and resources are provided throughout the CD to websites that contain useful information.  To go to these links you will need to be connected to the internet.


PDF-Portable Document Format

Some information on the CD is provided as a PDF.  This allows you to open, view and print the file on any computer.  To view a PDF file you need Acrobat Reader which has been provided on the CD.  To return to where you were up to on the CD, click 'back".  

 

RTF-Rich Text Format

The exercises, including the Self Assessment Guide, have been provided on the CD in RTF format.  This allows the file to be opened and saved on your computer while retaining all formatting. Complete instructions on saving these files are provided with the exercises.
